NEXGEN Boosts ‘Perfect Day at CocoCay’
So far this year, two leading pool-industry trade journals have cited Royal Caribbean International’s Splashaway Bay at Perfect Day at CocoCay and two other pools with ChlorKing’s NEXGEN®pH on-site chlorine generators in awards for design excellence. Makes sense to us. NEXGEN gives a good-looking pool sparkling clean water.
NEXGEN salt-based systems generate chlorine with less energy and less water consumption by using pool water to maintain required disinfection levels. Using pool water also minimizes the addition of salt. NEXGEN enhances safety while eliminating the costs and risks associated with the purchase, storage and use of bulk chlorine, and their self-cleaning capability contributes to reduced maintenance time and cost.
Aquatics International’s 2019 Dream Design Winners include Splashaway Bay, (left) a kids’ aqua playground with two drench buckets and five slides, at Royal Caribbean’s “Perfect Day at CocoCay” Island, and the Westwood Family Aquatic Center municipal pool in Norman, OK. Athletic Business included the Athens (OH) City municipal pool in its Aquatic Design Portfolio.
Perfect Day at CocoCay is the recently opened, $250 million renovation of Royal Caribbean’s private island in the Bahamas. All of the pools feature ChlorKing NEXGEN systems, specified by Aquatic Design & Engineering based on their track record and reliability.
The island’s Thrill Waterpark features two towers with 13 waterslides, including Daredevil’s Peak, that holds the record as the tallest water slide in North America at 135 feet. The 33,000-sq ft Oasis Lagoon is the largest freshwater pool in the Caribbean. Other highlights include the twin Dueling Demon drop slides, which launch riders from a vertical position; the Manta Raycers, where friends can race down twin open flume slides; the high-speed, fully vertical Screeching Serpent; and the coiling Green Mamba, a massive aqua tube slide.
The municipal facilities in Athens and Norman, both college towns, feature multiple pools, including splash pads and slides, and none can afford any downtime due to chlorine-gas discharges and other chemical-related incidents. In addition to increased safety and the elimination of bulk-chlorine and its storage and handling issues, the award-winning pools benefit from NEXGEN’s patented system that uses pool water in the sanitization process. This reduces water use and manages TDS.
NEXGEN on-site chlorine generators are available through ChlorKing’s 36- and 60-month Equipment Supply & Maintenance Programs, enabling you to trade a capital outlay for a fixed monthly cost.
